WHY should you become a member?

The Slingerland® Institute for Literacy is an organization that trains teachers to work with dyslexic students in their classrooms using the Slingerland® Multisensory Approach. This methodology is a simultaneous, multisensory, structured language approach for teaching reading, writing, spelling and speaking.

Dyslexia is not about IQ. Dyslexic children are often bright and creative despite their difficulty with language. Many dyslexic individuals struggle for years to overcome their disability. Without help, they fall behind in learning to read and write and become at risk for low self-esteem, societal problems, dropping out of school, and limited futures. Slingerland-trained teachers are prepared to use the right kind of teaching to increase their school success.

Our children are our future. The quality of education they receive now will be a direct factor in our nation's success in the years to come. Membership Levels & Pricing

• Student Level - $20:  Available to full-time students. 
  Benefits include:  Access to the members only section of the website
  Requirements:  A copy of the applicant’s current student identification card/form must accompany the membership form
• Basic Level - $50:  Available to all individuals or families. 
  Benefits include:  Discount on Slingerland® teaching materials, access to the members only section of the website
• Professional Level I - $75:  Available to all individual professionals including teachers, tutors, administrators, therapists, medical professionals, etc.
  Benefits include: Discount on Slingerland® courses, discount on Slingerland® teaching materials, access to the members only section of the website
• Professional Level II - $75 + $25 additional fee:  Available to all individual professionals including teachers, tutors, administrators, therapists, medical professionals, etc.
  Benefits include: Listing in the Parent section of Slingerland® website under Professional Resource page, discount on Slingerland® courses, discount on Slingerland® teaching materials, access to the members only section of the website, verification of satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check
  Requirements:  Complete and submit a criminal history background check along with the fee of $25.  The background check will be effective for a 3-year time period.  At the expiration of the third year, you will be required to submit another background check form along with the fee.  However, the main membership must be renewed annually.   (NOTE:  The $25 fee is waived upon submission of proof and verification of a satisfactory criminal history background check.)
  You must also complete and submit a Professional Profile Application Form.  The professional listing on the Slingerland® website will not be activated until the Professional Profile Application Form has been received.
• Organization / Corporate Level - $200:  Available to all schools, resource centers, for-profit/non-profit organizations and, corporations. 
  Benefits include: Live link on the Slingerland® website resource page, discount on Slingerland® courses for up to six (6) participants, discount on Slingerland® teaching materials, 30-day banner listing on the Slingerlandwebsite, Listing on the Slingerland® website parent professional resource page, includes one (1) Professional Level membership.  (Note: Professional Level II requires an additional fee of $25 or proof of criminal history background check by requesting organization)
• Lifetime Level - $550:  Available to individuals only. 
  Benefits include: Lifetime Membership Certificate, discount on Slingerland® teaching materials, discount on Slingerland courses, access to the members only section of the Slingerland® website, option to be listed on the Professional Resource page in the Parent section of the Slingerland website – must meet requirements for Professional Level  II

DONATIONS

The Slingerland Institute is expanding it's services and your contribution to our efforts will allow us to offer training, materials and support to teachers, parents, educators, therapists, and anyone making a difference in the lives of children with dyslexia. Your monetary support, no matter the size, will have an immediate impact on the fulfillment of our mission.

We offer several options for making donations. Direct donations come through the Slingerland PayPal gateway or we accept donations through the American Express Giving Express Program. We are also listed on the United Way Combined Federal Campaign charity list.
