Certified Slingerland Instructor of Teachers
Certified Slingerland Instructors of Teachers (CSITs) have completed the full course of classes on how to train educators in the Slingerland Approach. Requirements include:

Aspects of training, such as fidelity to the Slingerland® Approach, are assessed throughout the prerequisite Intern classes prior to applying for certification.

IMSLEC Criteria
Teacher Level
Before applying for certification, candidates for the Instructor of Teachers level must complete all coursework and meet IMSLEC requirements. The chart below confirms alignment between IMSLEC Standards and Slingerland Standards for certification at the Teacher level.
Applying for Certification
Certification at the Instructor of Teachers level requires a practical final exam to ensure familiarity and effectiveness in training educators to implement the Slingerland® Approach. The practical final exam consists of four parts.

A written reflection on coaching the candidate led during their time as an Intern
Panel Interview
Candidates prepare and respond in-person to a panel of Certification Committee members and Front Office staff
Lecture Notes and Materials
Submission of lecture notes and materials for one (1) Slingerland Signature Lecture
Committee Review
Certification Committee members evaluate material submissions and panel responses
Maintaining CSIT Certification
To maintain certification, every three years a CSIT must:

1. Submit record of 30 hours of IMSELC CEUs
2. Maintain a Current SLI Subscription
2. Provide Current Background Check
3. Attend at least one (1) Slingerland Spring Meeting every three years
4. Pay the certification fee
5. Be confirmed by the Faculty Senate

Beginning Sept, 2024, CSITs seeking to maintain their certification must also submit lecture materials for review to ensure calibration with SLI expectations.
